Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment removes infected or damaged pulp tissue from inside a tooth, eliminates infection, and seals the tooth to prevent reinfection. Modern techniques make root canals far more comfortable than their reputation suggests.
What to Expect
The Treatment Process
X-Ray Assessment
We take X-rays to assess the shape of root canals and look for signs of infection in surrounding bone.
Anaesthesia & Access
Local anaesthesia is administered. A small opening is made in the crown of the tooth to access the pulp chamber.
Pulp Removal & Cleaning
The infected pulp is carefully removed and the root canals are cleaned, shaped, and disinfected.
Sealing & Crown
The canals are filled with gutta-percha and the tooth is sealed. A crown is usually placed afterwards to protect the tooth.
